2019 Anglican Schools Conference – ‘The Power of Stories’

Guest Speakers John Bell and The Most Reverence Don Tamihere will join us from May 22-23 next year in Timaru for our bi-annual conference. Craighead Diocesan School will be hosting us and the theme is ‘The Power of Stories”.

Rabbi Jonathan Sacks says, “We are the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves.”

Some of the stories we tell are ones we share with other New Zealanders, or with other educators. There are a number, also, which belong to a smaller group: the stories of our faith, and of our participation in the particular calling of being educators within Anglican schools. In this conference we’ll be thinking of the stories we sing about ourselves, our Church, our Schools and our faith; the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves as church schools and as part of the 3-tikanga church. We’ll be hearing stories from around our network about new things people are trying, about learning from each other, and about personal growth of faith.

This conference is an opportunity for RE teachers, chaplains, Bishops, heads, board members, and all with a commitment to Anglican schools, to come together with a common focus on the importance of the Good News to our students.

A parallel and overlapping conference for selected students from our schools will run concurrently with the main programme.

Chaplains are invited to stay for Chaplain’s day on Friday, for further input from John Bell.

Registration information will be sent out in the first week of Term One, 2019.
