Ian: The puzzle of inclusion
This is a powerful short animated film, more powerful because there are no words. It explores what it means to include another, and what it means to move into their world rather than expecting them to conform to yours. It’s probably better for secondary than primary, but could be the basis for some profound conversations.
It could also be used during disability awareness week, or in preparation for a student with disabilities coming to your school. There could be some interesting conversations around what the wheelchair might symbolise, too – taking it further than obvious physical disabilities into other things which set people apart (language, culture, family background…)
