Lent, Holy Week and Easter
I’m starting this resource in reverse, beginning with Holy Week and moving back to Lent, because I want to highlight the wonderful set of liturgies Ben Truman has shared with us. At St Mark’s they have a short service every day of Holy Week, and Ben has sent the complete set as a powerpoint for us to share. Find it here.
We launch into Lent with the story of Jesus in the desert, and there are some beautiful animations of the story available on youtube. This is quite a powerful one, requiring a bit of unpacking in terms of the story, since there are no words beyond the background music.
RE:start is a UK website which provides short snippets of information together with animations of Bible passages for younger students. For Easter and Holy Week there are two animations leading from Maundy Thursday through to Jesus’ arrest, and then from the arrest to the resurrection.
On another part of the same site is RE:Quest. Once again, there is information on festivals and symbols and saints, and videos suited to older students of the Bible stories being read.
There are also links to ideas for five collective worship sessions exploring what Easter tells us about who Jesus is, based on the gospel of John. Find them here.
