Peace

Peace

Our young people are, in general, far more aware of world events than previous generations were at their age. That means that when things become unsettled in the USA… or Middle East… or Uganda… we may need to pay attention to them in our chapel services. There are a number of resources on our “4th Mark of Mission” page about peace and justice, but here are some specifically for times of worship.

Caritas have a complete “Peace Liturgy” available, with powerpoint and leader’s notes. It was created a few years ago so would need adjusting, but provides some base ideas. There are also liturgies specific to particular situations which can be similarly adapted: for Palestine, or for acts of terrorism (in one case in Paris, or, closer to home, Christchurch).

Peace is something prayed for widely and often. If, rather than a full peace liturgy, you want to add prayers for peace into your chapel services, there are some examples here and here and a lament here.

For many more ideas and resources about peace, look it up on our values page.
