Our Anglican Schools Community St George’s School and Whanganui Collegiate School

The Opportunity We seek an engaging, suitably qualified, and experienced Chaplain to
provide inspirational spiritual leadership and pastoral care across our Anglican schools
community.

We are highly flexible regarding the structure of this role and are open to a conversation
about what works best for the right candidate. We are equally welcoming of applications for a part-time chaplaincy (ideal for those wishing to maintain parish commitments) or a full-time chaplaincy. Please note that a full-time appointment would require the inclusion of a Philosophy and Religious Studies (PRS) teaching component across the campus.

As Campus Chaplain, you will:

• Lead the worshipping life of our combined school community with creativity and
  energy, celebrating the sacraments pursuant to a Bishop’s Licence and in
  accordance with the doctrine of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and
  Polynesia.
• Act as a vital member of the pastoral care team, providing service leadership and
  building warm, trusting relationships with students across both schools.
• Inspire and engage students with service programmes across both schools and the
  wider campus, empowering them to live out their faith through action within our
  community.
• Support the spiritual formation and wellbeing of students through chapel services,
  classroom visits, small groups, and one-on-one pastoral conversations.
• Deliver Religious Education (RE) and/or Philosophy and Religious Studies (PRS)
  classes, depending on the agreed FTE and teaching component of your role.
• Strengthen connections between our school communities and the wider Body of
  Christ, fostering partnerships with local parishes, Anglican agencies, and faith-based
  initiatives.

The successful applicant will:

• Be an inspiring, relatable speaker who connects authentically with children, young
  people, staff, and families across diverse age groups.
• Have demonstrated experience providing pastoral care and school-based chaplaincy
  within a Christian educational setting.
• Show a proven ability to nurture spiritual growth, resilience, and wellbeing in
  students from Year 1 through to Year 13.
• Be adaptable and open to a flexible role structure, embracing either a part-time
  chaplaincy or a full-time role that incorporates teaching.
• Possess excellent communication, organisational, and collaborative leadership
  skills.
• Bring a caring, warm, proactive, and culturally responsive approach, grounded in
  Anglican tradition and open to ecumenical engagement.
• Demonstrate an understanding of contemporary issues in education and youth
  development.
• Model spiritual commitment and actively participate in school life and community
  activities.
• Hold current teacher registration (essential for the full-time teaching component;
  advantageous, but not essential for a part-time chaplaincy-only arrangement).
